Rise of the Lukewarm Church

Churches in Europe, Canada, USA and Australia are becoming more and more progressive. Some are allowing ministers and pastors to openly embrace the LGBT lifestyle and calling homosexuality just as another way to live life. A catholic girls school in Australia is implementing a non-gender or genderless view of God and banned its students to refer to God as Father and/or Son. Some churches are preaching the hyper-grace gospel, telling people that no matter what they do, they are saved, not calling sinners or worldly saints to repentance. Some even avoid the subject of repentance altogether. Others preach the prosperity gospel, calling people to give funds to their organizations in return for prosperous blessings from God, which are false promises, that only enable such organizations to fund their own quest to attain luxurious lifestyles while the donors live with less.

What does the Bible actually say about prosperity?

There are churches and so called saints that are promoting New Age practices such as channeling, New Age meditation techniques and chakra monitoring, Hindu-style breathing techniques, witchcraft prayers in the Name of Jesus, Freemason practice of calling on satanic rituals to increase prosperity, giving tolerance to homosexual and sexual lifestyles, enabling child abusers and pedophiles, not punishing rape appropriately, and allowing occult practices in the church, including necromancy, divinations, Oujia and tarot. All of these practices in this particular paragraph are all an abomination to God. So are fornication, masturbation, pornography, abortion and divorce. This sounds offensive, but God does not care if we or any other human being are offended. He is offended by sin, and whether anyone like it or not, those who sin and do not repent and do not belong to Jesus will be appointed to wrath. This does not mean that Jesus cannot redeem those who have sinned, but if anyone who is convinced that he or she is a saint but still live in such a lifestyle and is unrepentant, will walk in the direction of God’s wrath.

When we choose to be on the fence, we made the choice not to be with God.

According to Revelation 3, the Lukewarm Church is going to remain on earth until Jesus returns. This only means that the saints have only one choice – to respond to God’s voice by following His instructions in Revelation 18-21:

I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

We are to ‘buy gold’ from God Himself and allow Him to rebuke and chasten out of love. And we are to be zealous for Him and repent, and when Jesus stands at the door of your heart and knock, we are to hear His voice and open the door and invite Him in and dine with Him.

When Jesus knocks at the door of our hearts to change us from the inside out, do we let him keep knocking?

Even if it means Jesus wants you to give you patience, character, virtue, honesty, humility, grace, mercy, perseverance, character and joy, even if it means He would give us trials to overcome so we maybe divorced from our worldly selves and have our sinful nature crucified. It is only through trials that most of us can learn to be strong, faithful and be able to depend on God’s sustenance, deliverance and protection, and only by living in such circumstances that we learn to trust Him and not lean on our own understanding.

The rise of the lukewarm church did not come to me in a vision. It is evident that it is here now and it is here to stay. We need to be ever vigilant and ever dependent on God to protect our faith, and rely on Him for discernment, wisdom, and knowledge of truth.

Learn the differences between the sheep and the wolves. Even the wolves can quote the Bible these days. Then it is up to us to remain close to the LORD so we would have discernment.

The Bible is the canonical word of God. But many of the wolves know the Bible enough to lead people astray. Look at what Lucifer did. He asked Eve, “Did God really say?”, he even taunted Jesus with God’s word right after Jesus fasted for forty days and he would definitely use such a weapon against us the saints so we maybe deceived into following his footsteps and share in ultimate fate, destiny and inheritance.

But God does not want that for the saints. Our destiny is supposed to be more than conquerors. Many will fail, but many will also overcome.

This is why Jesus said in Matthew 10:16 that we are to be as innocent as doves and as shrewed as snakes.

But when many who are in your circle of influence who are convinced that they are saved but believes in reincarnation and other heresies and talks to you about it, your response should not be hate. Your response should be to correct the person because we the saints are called to not be ashamed of the gospel according to Romans 1:16, and tell them gently of the truth. Our response should be prayer that God would redeem, save and nurture their faith and to protect our own faith, so that they may come to repentance and find the love of Jesus through our gentle and humble walk with the LORD.

If we do not correct them or give them a way to know the truth, we may be held accountable for not telling the truth and being a witness for Jesus. An example of correcting one’s theology is described in Acts 8:20-21. In this passage, Peter actually told the sorcerer to repent so that perhaps God would forgive the intent of his heart.

Pray for the repentance of saints. Follow Jesus’ example in being intercessors for the saints in prayer. We are called to be kings and priests unto the Lord.

We are to follow this example and ask them to repent after correcting them and pray for them.

We the saints need to ask for discernment for ourselves about which issues are issues of heresies that concern salvation and which issues do not concern salvation. We cannot make non-salvation issues such as the rapture into salvation issue, and causing the saints to divide against one another. We cannot allow the issue of alcohol consumption, obesity and media consumption as salvation issues, rather saints should continue to walk humbly with God and ask these questions to God and wise counsel, which is one of the most important reasons for community and church.

When it comes to faith, it is not our self confidence that gives us assurance, but only the confidence and trust in Jesus can be our ultimate assurance of our faith. If we are intimate with our Lord and Savior there is no way Jesus who died for mankind would allow our hearts to be deceived for He said that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Matthew 10:9).

Jesus is the Word of God (John 1:1&14). The Word of God is a double edge sword (Hebrews 4:12). It is the Sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6).

If God is a God that we can trust, we can trust Him that the confession of our mouths that Jesus is Lord and that our belief that God has raised Him from the dead would be saved. Therefore, if anyone who is taught wrongly or learned wrong theology and false doctrines can be redeemed, sanctified, chastened, rebuked and taught by the LORD through the Holy Spirit throughout their lifetime, but we the saints need to be careful not to be influenced by them or condemn them but correct them gently in the Word of God. This is exactly why the Jesus says we need to be as wise as serpents and as innocent as doves according to Matthew 10:16. There is no wiser thing to do than to operate in our interactions with the worldly and the godly in a manner that involves dependency and surrender in God for wisdom and purity, which all requires faith and trust in the LORD Himself as the only source of godly wisdom we can have as saints is from or/and through the Holy Spirit.
