The Shield of Faith

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”

Ephesians 6:10-20

March 31, 2011 was the first time I was saved and I gave my life to Jesus. It was the best day of my life, eight years ago because I found my True First Love that is Jesus. Up until then I only knew about Jesus. But that day, I became His and He became mine. It was an amazing fulfillment of a relationship that is the most real than any other that I have ever had, because Jesus’ love for me is the most pure and true.

In the last three years, I have been working on my artistic drawing skills for a hobby. I have drawn many drawings that I have placed in a collection. It is only in the last few months that I started combining my pencil artwork with digital art, and in the last two weeks I felt led to share the following art to bless others.

Original artwork by Julia A. – Warrior Princess of God Blog

The artwork was a brainchild of meditating on Ephesians 6:10-20, a study of the Armor of God, that began in August of 2016 and that I kept building on until today, and it is still ongoing.

Every part of the shield came as a vision accompanied with the emphasized verses, and which each verse are followed by the passage included.

The Armor of God collection is an extensive work of meditating on the Word of God, but this one began with two passages from the Gospels and two passages from the Wisdom Literature.

The recurring theme is that the Word of God has symmetry and is truly a double edged sword wielding the Old Testament and the New Testament, reminding us of the Old Covenant and the New Covenant.

The Cross for example has symmetrical properties, as with the Four Living Creatures with their four faces.

The vertical part symbolizes the Victory of Jesus Christ, while the horizontal part symbolizes the Glory of the Father.

The Holy Spirit is symbolized by the crux of the Cross as His work is based on the command of the Father and the love of the Son.

Further more, the passages included tells us four aspects of faith:

  1. John 15:5-11 reminds us that our faith is a gift as described by Paul in Ephesians 2:8-9, and therefore we can only attain it from God, that is to receive the gift, we cannot earn it by works, but in the developing intimacy with the Father for people give gifts to each other in relationship and intimacy, but in works and efforts people are rewarded. That is as we abide in the love of Jesus and follow His commandments as children follow the authority of their father, and so we will receive His gifts and He will abide in us with His love. The greatest thing about the love of God is that no matter how much you love God, God will always love you even more, because our limited capacity limits our love for Him and others, but His infinite capacity overflows His love for us unconditionally (even if one is an unbeliever).
  2. Psalm 91:1-7 tells us that when it comes to our safety and security, especially spiritually, we can rely on Him to protect us, and that when we hide in the cleft of His rock and hide under the Shadow of His Wings, we can trust Him to cover us with His ‘feathers’ and His ‘pinions’. That is if you are hidden, your enemy cannot see you. And therefore cannot attack you.
  3. Mark 4:35-41 describes the account of Jesus calming the storm and interestingly enough, that He did this only after the disciples asking Him if He didn’t care enough for them to drown and telling them that we have so little faith. Through this account we need to surrender to His timing and His power to calm the storms of our lives and we should not fear and allow God to fill us with faith in Him as the storm progresses, which of course, not easy for anyone to do.
  4. Proverb 31:25-31 most of my artwork is meant to edify women and to lift up women for God’s calling for them, but just for everyone really, both men and women, we need to remember that our strength is in the LORD, and that having the fear of the LORD, wisdom and faithful instruction will allow a woman of virtue or anyone really to assume God’s protection and strengthen their faith in Jesus.

With all of these things I hope you are blessed by the lavishing of God’s love to us in the promises He has given us in these verses. There will be more coming up soon in this form or another.
